Environmental education in a wired age
As part of the 7th High Level Seminar for Ecological Sustainable Cities held by Institute for Global Environmental Strategies, CityNet will organise a session on the Environmental Education in a Wired Age on March 3rd, 2016. This session will discuss initiatives that aim at creating sustainable cities through stakeholder engagement, education, raise environmental awareness and implementation of smart technologies.  More>>
Workshop on Green Technology and Sustainable City Planning
Seconded from Seoul Metropolitan Government, Director of Operations, Mr Taegyun Gi, and Operations Officer, Ms. Hyoshin Lee, have just joined CityNet Secretariat. In addition, Felix Kalkowsky has also joined the Secretariat as Program Officer. They will be great additions to the team to further enhance CityNet’s programmes. Join us in welcoming our new team members! 
Delivering affordable housing workshop
CityNet, UN-Habitat, and the Kuala Lumpur government will co-organize a workshop on affordable housing on March 7th-11th, at the Kuala Lumpur Regional Training Center. The workshop will allow participants to be acquainted with practical urban housing solutions from cities across the Asia Pacific and enable them to acquire substantive knowledge about conventional and alternative housing delivery systems.

CityNet in Habitat III Expert Group Meeting
An Expert Group Meeting as part of the Habitat III preparatory process was held from 27-28 January in Bangkok, organized by UNESCAP in partnership with the UN Habitat Regional Office for Asia-Pacific (ROAP). The overall objective of the meeting is to discuss the regional report draft and to gather inputs and review preliminary findings of the report. CityNet was represented by the Director of Programs Youngmin Chang.   
CityNet in the UTC Health and Wellbeing
International Institute for Global Health (UNU-IIGH) organized the only Urban Thinkers Campus in Health and Wellbeing. This global event re-imagined sustainable urban development in the interest of health and wellbeing from an integrated eco-social approach. The conclusions negotiated at this event will result in the Kuching Agenda, giving a succinct voice to the health and wellbeing agenda and shaping The City We Need global partners’ position for Habitat III.    More>>
Safer Cities Knowledge Exchange Seminar for Asian Cities Final Report
Following the Safer Cities Knowledge Exchange Seminar for Asian Cities in November 2015, CityNet Secretariat prepared a thorough report that summarises the active interactions and presentations of all speakers and participants. We look forward for future cooperation with all these cities and to build together a safer world!

Planting the Energy in Buildings and City
The Paris Agreement has been reached during COP21 in December last year in order to tackle climate change. Seoul Metropolitan Government has geared up towards the implementation of the agreement through a public discussion on ‘planting energy in buildings on city’. Read our latest blog to learn more about this idea.

JICA grants a DRR Education Project
CityNet Yokohama Project Office and Plus Arts, a Kobe based NGO specialising on Disaster Education will embark on a new project in Nepal aiming to raise the capacity of teachers and children to understand as well as better manage disaster prevention practices in Nepal.   More>>
Beijing visits Yokohama to study Sustainable Urban Transport
Representatives from Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport (BMCT) and related departments visited the City of Yokohama to study sustainable urban transport and to understand the emission related standards of the city. The visit was facilitated by WRI China which became a member of CityNet since 2015.   More>>
CBARAD Orientation to College of Nursing
Students from Yokohama City University, College of Nursing are planning to go on a study visit to Iloilo in March this year to understand more about CBARAD schemes and the activities relating to it with particular reference to maternal health.   More>>
 


Upcoming activities until March 2016
CityNet Yokohama Office has announced its activities for the first quarter of this year. These include 20th CityNet Yokohama Japan Forum, CBARAD-II mid-term evaluation in Iloilo, strategic planning meeting for reconstruction project in Lalitpur, study visit to Iloilo by Yokohama City University and training on Structural and Seismic Engineering for Kathmandu in Yokohama.    More>>
