Call for Project Proposals for CityNet Cluster Grant Program 2018

CityNet is encouraging members to submit proposals entry for the 2018 Cluster Grant Program. Now on its second year, the Program supports CityNet clusters’ activities and initiatives toward achieving sustainable city to city cooperation among CityNet members. Two proposals will be granted up to 10,000 USD each for a maximum of 12-month implementation period. It is strongly encouraged that your proposal includes joint activities with your cluster lead, co-lead, and other cluster members.

Infrastructure cluster meeting and KLRTC Workshop
 
 

The CityNet Infrastructure Cluster Co-leader Kuala Lumpur City Hall will host the 2018 Infrastructure Cluster Meeting in conjunction with the Workshop with the Kuala Lumpur Regional Training Center focusing on Sustainable Urban Transportation for the New Urban Agenda from 24-26 July 2018. The formal invitation and further information on the programme will be sent soon to all infrastructure cluster members. World Cities Project Encourages Smart-City Initiatives in Busan, Seoul, Suwon and Gwangju
 
 

Busan hosted a closing review of cooperation between four Korean cities – Seoul, Busan, Suwon, and Gwangju – and four European counterparts – Barcelona (Spain), Tampere (Finland), Eindhoven (Netherlands), and Scottish Cities Alliance on Friday, 20 April 2018. The cooperation between these cities was made possible by the World Cities project of the European Union that aimed to promote long-term working relations and short-term pilot projects between the cities within the EU and cities in other countries including the Republic of Korea.

CityNet concludes the annual audit process conducted by Muntinlupa
 
 

The newly elected CityNet auditor Muntinlupa City has carried out the network’s audit for the fiscal year 2017. Represented by the Head of City Budget Office Ms. Lualhati Morales and Officer-in-charge of City Accounting Office Ms. Melania Casanova, Muntinlupa City conducted the audit from 23-25 April 2018 at the CityNet Secretariat to ensure the network’s compliance and performance to its function. A set of findings and recommendations for the network was created to better serve its members.

 
4th South Asian Cities Summit: New Urban Agenda & Localising the SDGs
 
 

CityNet member All India Institute of Local Self-Government is organising the South Asian Cities Summit 2018 with the theme of “New Urban Agenda and Localising SDGs”. The Summit will focus on the perspective of what needs to be done at city level to attain the SDGs and assess whether South Asian cities have required database and capacity to generate, analyze and use city performance results at highly disaggregated level in the city to improve performance and attain SDGs required outcomes by 2030.

Call for papers: International Conference on Ecotourism and Conservation Efforts
 
 

CityNet member city, Seberang Perai Municipal Council, calls for papers to be presented at the Seberang Perai International Conference and Eco-Tourism 2018 (SPICEC 2018) with the theme “ Promoting Local Economic Development through Ecotourism”. Successful papers will be presented at the SPICEC 2018 from 8-9 October 2018.

11th  CITYNET DISASTER CLUSTER SEMINAR TO BE HELD IN ILOILO AUGUST 2-4, 2018

As pledged by Iloilo city during the 10th CITYNET Disaster Cluster Seminar last year in Yokohama, the seminar this year will be hosted by Iloilo City Government from August 2 to 4, 2018. 
In order to prepare for the seminar, CITYNET Yokohama Project Office will be sending the annual DRR survey questionnaire to all CITYNET Disaster Cluster members as well as invitation and the program shortly.
Call for Expression of Interests (EOI)
 
 

CITYNET Yokohama Project Office is now calling for Expression of Interests (EOI) for programs and activities that CITYNET members wish to have through CITYNET Yokohama Project Office. The EOIs received will be evaluated for its content for further discussions to develop a full project proposal. The form can be downloaded from CITYNET Yokohama Project Office web site and the deadline to submit is May 31, 2018.

Request to fill-in annual DRR surveys
 
 

CITYNET Yokohama Project Office will electronically distribute DRR surveys to Disaster Cluster members at the end of April, together with the invitation to the 11th Disaster Cluster Seminar to be held in Iloilo in August. Please kindly complete the annual DRR survey and submit it to dcs2018@citynet-yh.org by May 18, 2018.

CYO visits Secretariat for annual meeting
 
 

As a part of the annual meeting, Directors from CITYNET Yokohama Project Office visited CITYNET Secretariat to discuss follow-up matters from the CITYNET Congress and to further plan programs and activities for 2018. Among the matters discussed, the first four-cluster meeting (Strategic Cluster Meeting), Infra and Disaster Cluster meetings and institutional improvements were some of the main topics.
