CityNet, together with Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) and UNESCAP, held an Integrated Sustainable Solutions for Smart Cities Workshop from 18-25 August 2019 as part of the Urban SDG Knowledge Platform offline activity. The workshop connected 14 urban experts from Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, City of Balanga, Colombo Municipality Council, Banda Aceh Municipality, City Council of Penang Island, Kuala Lumpur City Hall, and Yangon Region Government to exchange best practices on smart city policies.
The workshop offered a series of lectures and discussions with urban practitioners for smart city policy making and an opportunity to build capacities in structuring and enhancing a smart city in day-to-day city administration. The sessions included diverse topics such as lectures on Seoul’s smart city initiatives, big data and transportation policy, public data service of Seoul, smart infrastructure of Seoul, and eight different site visits. During the workshop, the participants had an opportunity to present their city cases and build feasible action plans reflecting the knowledge they gained throughout the workshop.
