SDG Online Courses
Approaches in Sustainable Tourism: Lessons from Seoul
January – March
Online
The Seoul Tourism Organization will be showcasing insights and lessons learned from its Smart Tourism City Seoul and Seoul Tourism Plaza projects in its online course. Content covered will range from explanations of key concepts in sustainable tourism and smart tourism cities to the presentation of Seoul’s best practice initiatives for fostering the tourism industry.
National Chapter Hosts MeetingJanuary – March

CityNet will hold a meeting for the hosts of the National Chapters twice during the year to help the National Chapters consolidate plans and organize activities for 2023. 
IURC Study Visit to DublinJanuary
Dublin
As part of the IURC programme, funded by the EU, Seoul will visit Dublin to conduct a study visit on Dublin’s best practices and discuss how to further both cities’ visions to become walkable and cyclable cities. The study visit will involve active cycling throughout Dublin. This study visit continues the work established through the visit from Dublin to Seoul that was held from 29 August-2 September 2022.

Urban Safety & Inclusive Spaces Masterclass

Think City presents a capacity-building course to tackle the historical monopoly of the able-bodied man’s perspective over the urban planning process, which has led to unsafe public areas and loss of opportunities for vulnerable groups. In the course, they will present methods and learnings from safety audits conducted together with Safetipin to build inclusive, safe and accessible cities.
ICP-AGIR Study Visit to TaichungFebruary
Taichung
As part of the ICP-AGIR programme, funded by the EU, Prato will visit Taichung to visit best practice sites in person, develop discussion with Taichung stakeholders, and hold joint workshops and draft Best Practice Captures on the topic of circular economy. This is the first study visit between the pairing.

As part of the ICP-AGIR programme, funded by the EU, Taichung will visit Prato to visit best practice sites in person, especially on textile recycling, develop discussion with Prato stakeholders, hold joint workshops, and finalize Best Practice Captures on the topic of circular economy. This study visit follows up on the work established through the study visit to Taichung from 13-17 February 2023.
National Chapter India MeetingFebruary

The Secretariat will meet with the National Chapter India to discuss reactivation of the National Chapter and prepare for the Asian Cities Summit 2023. 
City-to-City Cooperation on Dengue FeverFebruary

In September 2022, during the 42nd Executive Committee in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Mayor of Lalitpur requested support from neighbouring cities to share knowledge on the Dengue fever response. The Secretariat plans to connect LMC with Colombo Municipal Council and Makati City Government through online meetings for a one-on-one consultation.

ICP-AGIR Study Visit to TaoyuanMarch

As part of the ICP-AGIR programme, funded by the EU, Braga will visit Taoyuan to see Taoyuan’s best practices in action and finalize their Best Practice Captures around the topics of green mobility. This study visit follows up on the work established through the study visit to Braga from 24-28 October 2022.
ICP-AGIR Asia Closing Conference3-4 April

To close off the ICP-AGIR programme, there will be a closing conference in Incheon to consolidate the information from the Asia region, share highlights, and explore possible paths forward outside of the project.
 Training Programme on Low Carbon Built Environments and Sustainable Development Goals24 April – 12 May
Seoul
The online programme will feature low carbon programmes and policies that Seoul Metropolitan Government has successfully implemented over the years, aiming to improve the quality of life for its 10 million city residents. Some of the featured presentations in the Programme include Seoul’s low carbon practices in buildings, public transport, energy, and climate finance. Participants are also expected to present their low carbon urban solutions during the city action planning workshop.
City Benchmarking on PPPs for the SDGs22-26 May

The three-day programme invites city experts to learn and share the success of PPP projects not only in Seoul but also in cities in developing Asia. The programme features sessions on PPP, sharing of urban innovations, and generating city action plans. Peer-based in approach, the programme hopes to enhance the knowledge and skills of city participants on urban infrastructure financing.
The 3rd International Forum on Low Carbon Cities29 August
Incheon
This annual event is organized in cooperation with UNESCAP ENEA. The forum provides a platform for cities and stakeholders to discuss low carbon cities and opportunities for collaboration and tangible solutions. Previous editions have included different focuses on citizen and stakeholder engagement, green financing, and city-level actions.
City-to-City Cooperation between Kuala Lumpur & IloiloMay – November
Iloilo
As a follow-up to a request made at the 42nd Executive Committee Meeting, CityNet will facilitate city-to-city cooperation between Kuala Lumpur and Iloilo. If necessary, Kuala Lumpur will visit Iloilo to conduct a scoping mission and provide relevant technical inputs on priority aspects of urban development. Afterwards, Iloilo City will participate in the KLRTC Session to further learn KL’s best practices. 
National Chapter Indonesia CongressQ3

The National Chapter Indonesia Congress will be held to showcase the activities that have been happening through the National Chapter Indonesia. The election of the new host will also take place.

Participants will benchmark Kuala Lumpur and other city participants as to how they are improving their environment through different low carbon and digital technologies. 
43rd Executive Committee Meeting23 October

The Executive Committee is responsible for the execution of policies established by the General Council. CityNet holds the Executive Committee Meeting at least once every two years for the Executive Committee to convene and discuss the direction of the organization. 
SDG Awards (Held during the Asia-Pacific Urban Forum, APUF‐8)25 October

The SDG Awards debuted at the 9th CityNet Congress in 2022 will return for a second year! Cities will be encouraged to submit their best practice cases to the Urban SDG Knowledge Platform, and after a period of voting and evaluation, winners will be selected to be honoured at the SDG Awards Ceremony.

UNESCAP Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development27-30 March

The Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) is an annual, inclusive intergovernmental forum to support follow-up and review of progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the regional level, while serving as a regional preparatory meeting to the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF). The Forum provides a regional perspective on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by identifying regional trends and sharing best practices and lessons learned. The 10th APFSD will be organized from 27-30 March 2023 under the theme “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels in Asia and the Pacific” in Bangkok, at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC).

Asia-Pacific Urban Forum (APUF‐8)23-25 October

APUF‐8 will openly welcome governments, organizations, private sector, academic institutions, civil society and other stakeholders to engage in dialogues over the course of the Forum. The Forum will include a High-level ministerial session, thematic plenary and parallel sessions, side events and exhibitions to present, train, discuss and showcase on‐going work, and establish new partnerships and collaborations. Back‐to‐back associated events held before and after the Forum will inform and supplement the deliberations of the Forum. Technical site visits and best practice locations will be organized by the host city/government.
