“How Safe is Your City? A Masterclass on Urban Safety”
(7 – 27 June, Online)
On June 7, the Urban Safety Masterclass online course officially kicked off. CityNet, in collaboration with the Think City Institute and Safetipin, is currently providing the online course on the Urban SDG Knowledge Platform. The live kick-off orientation session was attended by over 40 participants and the course has approximately 60 registered learners.
The online course is designed to be three-weeks of self-guided study on the development of safe, inclusive, and accessible public spaces. It contains lectures, case study examples, and activities to help participants gain a deeper understanding of the built and social environment of our cities.
The course consists of three modules: 1) Introduction to urban safety 2) Principles of making cities safer, responsive, and equitable 3) Tools and methods for making cities safe.
Upon completion of the modules, participants will be invited to a live course review session with the instructors on 27 June. Attending this live session is a requirement to receive a course certificate.
This is a free and exclusive training course for CityNet members. The course is open to local authorities, city planners, and stakeholders whose work revolves around urban development and safety in their communities. The course can be freely accessed by all learners by clicking HERE.
