UN-Habitat and Arcadis share a training opportunity to the 9th edition of the Shelter Academy on Urban Management and Planning for Climate Adaptation and Mitigation. The program will take place on September 2-6, 2019 in Amsterdam and Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
The deadline for applications is May 13, 2019.
Target Group: Mayors, decision-makers, senior managers, and senior government officials are invited to apply. Female candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
Content: The Shelter Academy is a week-long capacity building program that will equip participants with the knowledge, skills and know-how to respond to urban challenges related to climate change in their cities. Drawing from the workshops, case studies, fieldtrips to key sites in the Netherlands, participants will engage in a peer-to-peer learning and receive support in the formulation, development and follow-up of action plans for their respective cities. Last year, the program included the participation of senior urban leaders from 8 different countries and 3 mayors.
Costs and Tuition Fees: The costs of air travel to the Netherlands, accommodation and program activities comprised of lectures, site visits and local transport will be covered by Arcadis for the duration of the Shelter Academy on a competitive basis. Applicants who meet the selection criteria and qualify for the Shelter Academy will receive sponsorship for international travel and accommodation, on a case-by-case basis and upon recommendation of UN-Habitat.
Applications: Applicants should send a completed application form to Ms. Zuzana Vuova at zuzana.vuova@un.org no later than Monday, May 13, 2019. Selected participants will be required to prepare and send their case study presentation in a PowerPoint format no later than Monday 3 June 2019 and be prepared to make presentations during the Shelter Academy.
