Final Call for Innovative Urban Case Studies for the 3rd CityNet ESCAP SDG City Awards

Key information:

Who can make submissions?
The CityNet ESCAP SDG City Awards welcomes case study submissions from:

  • cities
  • other local and regional governments
  • national ministries
  • stake-holding organisations in sustainable urban development

The focus of case studies should be on urban projects in cities within the Asia Pacific region. To check eligibility requirements, please refer to UN ESCAP’s membership list.

What type of case studies?
The Awards is calling for innovative case studies under the following 4 thematic categories:

  • INCLUSIVE CITY (Linked SDGs: 11, 2, 5, 10, 16, 17)
  • SMART CITY (Linked SDGs: 11, 4, 8, 9, 17)
  • CIRCULAR CITY (Linked SDGs: 11, 6, 7, 12, 14, 15, 17)
  • RESILIENT CITY (Linked SDGs: 11,1, 3, 13, 17)

When is the deadline?
The case submissions are due August 31st, 2024.

Where should the cases be submitted?
The cases can be submitted in two ways:

1.The submission can be uploaded through the SDG City Awards submission portal on the Urban SDG Knowledge Platform. Please first make sure to register as a user by clicking “JOIN” at the top of the page and then logging in to upload your completed template.

2.The attached case study template document can be filled in and emailed directly to sdgplatform@citynet-ap.orgPlease include at least 1 image.

The Urban SDG Knowledge platform is currently accepting case study submissions for the 3rd CityNet ESCAP SDG City Awards. The deadline of 31 August is approaching quickly. Don’t be left out of this amazing opportunity to spotlight the innovative policies from your city that advance SDG achievements at the local level.

The SDG City Awards recognizes innovative urban policies that shed light on practical urban development solutions to emerging and interlinked issues. Generally speaking, the awards program is a celebration of progress made under SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. This year, the awards ceremony will be held during the 44th session of the CityNet Executive Committee Meeting in Iloilo City, Philippines on 19 November.
