CityNet Secretary General Vijay Jagannathan attended the Samarkand Climate Forum “Central Asia in the Face of Global Climate Challenges: Consolidation for Common Prosperity”, held from 4-5 April 2025 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The Samarkand Climate Forum, backed by a UN resolution, aims to foster regional solidarity in Central Asia through Uzbekistan’s green agenda, culminating in a Regional Concept of “Green” Development to shape a unified climate vision for the region.
Secretary General was featured in the panel discussion on “Sustainable Cities and Climate Challenges: Integrated Planning and Management”. There he met with Ms. Anaclaudia Rossbach, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UN-Habitat, who spoke on the topic of “Green Economy as a Path to Sustainable Development”.
