Greetings to all changemakers in CityNet member cities. The time has come to formally announce that the 3rd SDG City Awards Program has been launched. The SDG City Awards is a joint program between CityNet and UN ESCAP, who have partnered since 2017 with the support of Seoul Metropolitan Government to operate the Urban SDG Knowledge Platform, a database of innovative urban case studies. The SDG City Awards acts as a mechanism to encourage CityNet members and others to contribute new cases to the platform to support its mission to foster regional knowledge sharing of ground-breaking sustainable urban practices. The awards also recognize the work being done at the local government level to achieve sustainable development in the region.

This year, the competition covers 4 thematic categories which are linked with all UN Sustainable Development Goals, with a particularly emphasis on SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Submitted case studies will be evaluated by a panel of judges from CityNet, UN ESCAP, and UNDP. The Awards Ceremony will be held during the 44th CityNet Executive Committee Meeting in Iloilo City, Philippines in late November 2024.
