CityNet at the Preparatory Committee Meeting III

Are you attending the Preparatory Committee Meeting III (PrepCom 3) in Surabaya, Indonesia?

CityNet is organising a session on “Civic and Youth Participation in the Wired Age” partnering UN Habitat as part of the side event at Prepcom 3. The discussion focuses on initiatives that aim to make cities inclusive and sustainable with the use of digital technologies.

Date: 27 July 2016

Time: 1:30-2:30 pm

Venue: Room Crystal 1, Convention and Exhibition Hall Grand City Convex Surabaya

Panelists will present the following initiatives that enable to create people-centered projects with the use of smart technologies:

  • Microsoft and CityNet’s joint project CityApp is an excellent example of stakeholder engagement and crowdsource technical solutions (apps) for urban challenges, using the case of Sidoarjo’s winning app “M-Bonk” that has been launched for public use.
  • UN-Habitat and Mojang’s collaboration Block by Block uses Minecraft as a community participation tool in urban planning and design.
  • Pulse Lab Jakarta is a joint project of the UN through Global Pulse which is under the Executive Office of the UN Secretary General and the Government of Indonesia. Pulse Lab works with Jakarta city government’s Smart City Team.
  • Grab is Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing app, delivering on-demand mobility services.

In addition to this session, CityNet will showcase its activities at the exhibition booth together with one of its most active member cities, Sidoarjo Regency.
