CityNet Knowledge Exchange Roundtable: Enhancing Korean Strategic Partnership

On May 24, 2019, “CityNet Knowledge Exchange Roundtable: Enhancing Korean Strategic Partnership” was held in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Through this session, CityNet invited working-level officials of all its members in Korea to discuss how to cooperate and engage further  which is in line with the membership expansion activities. Following the meeting, a site visit to “Sinchon Boxquare” in Seodaemun District in Seoul – one of CityNet members – was organised.

The meeting was well-attended by representatives from Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Seodaemun, Seongdong, Songpa, and Seoul Metro. One of the participants said that it was a great opportunity to discuss agendas among the working-level officials in Korea. Most of participants shared their positive perspectives that they have gained and learned a lot by sharing projects, challenges and best practices like “Sinchon Boxquare”.

Sinchon Boxquare is a mall made out of 29 shipping containers to boost the local economy and youth employment. It also became the nation’s first public rental shopping arcade allowing street vendors as an addition.
