Deadline Extended: UN-Habitat’s 12th World Urban Forum in Cairo

The Twelfth Session of the World Urban Forum WUF12, convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat), will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from 4 to 8 November 2024, returning to the African continent after more than 20 years after its inception in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2002.

Note: Registration and participation in the forum is free of charge. The cost of the trip, accommodation, etc. will have to be borne by participant.

The WUF was established in 2001 by the UN to address one of the most pressing issues facing the world today: rapid urbanization and its impact on communities, cities, economies, climate change and policies. It is a high-level, open and inclusive platform for addressing the challenges of sustainable urbanization. This year’s WUF12 will feature an opening and closing session, assemblies, dialogues, special sessions, roundtables and an Urban Expo hosted and facilitated by UN-Habitat, the Government of Egypt and other Partners.

Stakeholders are welcome to apply for the following six partner-led event categories:
*   Networking events,
*   Voices from Cities,
*   SDGs in Action,
*   Urban Library,
*   ONE UN and
*   Training events

There are various topics/dialogues which connect to solid waste management and zero waste in cities. Thus, your organisations or networks might be ideal partners to lead on events and apply.
